Even though the Bengals had appeared to give up on the season in the two subsequent weeks after the loss to the Steelers, they put forth a quality performance in their 2017 Paul Brown Stadium finale. After Cincinnati played the spoiler to the Lions’ season on Christmas Eve, we took to the Facebook airwaves to talk about the team’s 26-17 win.
The topics that we discussed and those brought to our attention from Cincy Jungle followers who joined us live varied. From the performances in the win on Christmas Eve against Detroit, to the long-term direction of the club, it made for an interesting live video session.
- Giovani Bernard is playing like the best running back on this team’s roster. It’s a shame that his touches had been so limited before the injuries to Jeremy Hill and Joe Mixon.
- Are the injuries across the roster a major indicator of why the team has only won six games and one of the last four, or is it truly an overrated roster?
- After an up-and-down day against a mediocre Lions defense, should Andy Dalton remain in the team’s long-term plans with a potential new coach? Or is the lack of some big plays a by-product of poor drops, injuries and attrition on the offensive line?
- Whether it’s at the coaching ranks or other position groups, we expect the 2018 Bengals to look much different than the past two years. And, given what is a current 12-18-1 record in the span, that’s probably a good thing.
