Steelers vs. Bengals: Fernando Velasco to start at center

Kelvin Beachum struggled against Tennessee's Jurell Casey after he replaced starting center Maurkice Pouncey was lost for the year. Pittsburgh has elected to start their most recent signing instead.

Neal Coolong, who manages the excellent Behind the Steel Curtain website, wrote several days ago that starting backup center Kelvin Beachum would be a mistake, writing that "Jurell Casey gave him the beating of his pro career in Week 1. Casey is an amateur in comparison to All Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins."

He's getting his wish.

A day after the Steelers lost starting Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey for the season, Pittsburgh inked former Titans center Fernando Velasco -- who graded as the league's No. 11 center last year (in Tennessee) per Pro Football Focus.

According to Gerry Dulac with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Velasco (not Beachum) will start for the Steelers this Monday Night.
